Known as Pine Hut. NOTE that this hut stands on a private lease.
Located at Pine Hut is on the Mersey River, south of Lake Rowallan.
History
This is the second hut on this site. Basil Steers built the original Pine Hut from slabs from another hut. It was used as a snarer’s hut but was burnt down in 1983.
In 1984 Basil and his son Phillip Steers together with Ken Bakes and Ron Morgan, built this second Pine Hut which still stands here today.
The hut is currently complete but very poorly maintained and could do with some work and a clean-up.
Construction: The hut appears to have been built in three sections or stages, each being rather different from the others. In the past it has been fitted out with stoves and other amenities, but these have degraded badly.
